Church 12/21/08

We were going in the Bible to verse:
Luke 2:7

My Notes:
This message was brief and to the point. Don't get me wrong I love Christmas I just celebrate it differently. Jesus set up His coming so that He had absolutely nothing.  No birthright, no clothing, not even His own diaper. He was in a manger because there was no room in the inn for Him. He was in rags because Mary and Joseph were poor. Do you have a list of stuff you ask Jesus for? Is there room in your heart for Jesus? Is there room for Jesus in your House, your closet, your bank account........... Where in your life is there absolutely no room for Jesus? You have to examine yourself and see where it is in your life that there is no room for Jesus. Make room for Him. He ought to be Lord of everything in your life.

Bible Study 12/17/08

We were going in the Bible to verses:
Acts 11:19-12:3
Proverbs 16:20
2nd Timothy 3:

My Notes
How many of you have heard God's voice and ignored it. Every sin or act you have done unless you repent of it, you will be judged on that sin. What trials or persecution are you going through?
When you don't care that your sinning you have a serious problem. Because that means you have hardened your heart so much..............that what normally would shock most people doesn't bother you at all. Sadly, many people are like that today. (Acts 11:20) Are you prospering and are you joyful even in dire circumstances? Prospering meaning that your in good health, you have a place to live, food, or family. No matter what situation God has you in, have you learned to be joyful? Are we the light and the salt of the earth or are we entangled in what the world has to offer? You need to learn how to live in this world and still be a light. Every now and then you have to let people know who you are. That your a Christian, your on your way to heaven and you will not compromise your beliefs. One of the hardest things to do as a Christian is to keep your mouth shut when someone does you wrong. If your wondering what the last days will be like and why people keep saying these are the last days. Read 2nd Timothy 3:1-9 and see if any of these actions apply to the people of this world today. The reason Jesus hasn't come back yet is that He doesn't want anyone to perish (2nd Peter 3:3-9).  Nobody knows when Jesus is coming back. It could be in the next few minutes or thousands of years from now.......nobody knows. (Acts 11:21- 12:3) What do you hear in the churches today? The objective of Satan having churches on every corner is to keep people busy and out of the word of God.
Do you follow God's plan or do you make your own. The widow in Sidon didn't have to make Elijah his cake first....but she probably would have died like she planned to ( 1st Kings 17:8-16).
If you died tonight are you good in the eyes of God? Who have you brought to Christ? Do you have a prayer time everyday? Do you have a record of what you've been doing?

Church 12/14/08

Speaker: Carlton

We were going in the Bible to verses:
Galations 1:17
Psalms 27:7
Psalms 55:2
Jonah 1:1-3,10,15,17,
Jonah 2:1
Matthew 6:25

My Notes
(Galations 1:17) Christians need to spend at least 3 years in the desert. To find out more about God, what He means to you , and just to get to know God better.

We want God to hear us. No matter what time of day or night. No matter what it's about. Whether it's really important or not. Even if we pray for the same thing every single day.  We also are not the most patient about waiting for God to respond to our request. We want it to done right then and how we want it. (Psalms 27:7) How many of you have cried out something similar to what David was saying? Are you humble when you request something from the Lord? Do you ask out of obedience? Why does God have to take you that far, just so you can see that your wrong? We try to fix it on our own, but just end up digging ourselves into a deeper hole. You know you're supposed to be obedient. Don't wait till the last minute to call on Jesus. (Matthew 6:25) Jesus is the most abundant resource, but we don't call on Him first. (Jonah) Jonah didn't only not listen to God. He tried to run away as well. When one foot is in the world and the other foot is with God...............it's difficult to comprehend what God is trying to tell you. God will take you through whatever it takes to get you listen to Him. When He comes to you in that soft, small voice. Just listen. Be obedient, don't sin, and just listen. Trial are always good because you grow through trials. YOU are here because God loves you and created you for a specific purpose.

Bible Study 12/10/08

We were going in the Bible to verses:
James 2:5
Romans 12:12

My Notes:
Never question God!!!!!!!!! He knows what He's doing.
We are living in the last days. If you are going to walk with Jesus walk totally with Him. If your not go wild doing what you want to do, but don't stay half Jesus half the world.
(James 2:5) Are you rich in faith or are you rich by the world's standards? Being poorer than normal will make a poor person stay at the feet of Jesus. If you are poor you'll have the faith in God to take you through your problems. Today we are more concerned with outward sacrifice (doing something nice for someone else). When what God wants is your obedience.  (Romans 12:1)We are more willing to make a physical sacrifice than a spiritual.  What keeps you from giving you up? It could be anything. What people will think about you, Your appearance, electronics, personal enjoyment, appetite, or you just don't want to. ANYTHING that you place above God is considered an idol. Think about it. He died for you. It's the least you can do is sacrifice your body as a living sacrifice. Will you do it?

Church 12/7/08

We were going in the Bible to verses:

Jeremiah 27:6
2nd Peter 3:10
James 4:16

My Notes:
(Jeremiah 27:6)God puts people in office. He called Nebuchadnezzar His servant because Nebuchadnezzar allowed himself to be used as a retribution for Israel. It was heard on the news, More people through the recession and economy crisis are turning back to God. God gave all that stuff to Nebuchadnezzar (even though he didn't totally serve God) because He used Nebuchadnezzar to bring Israel back into a relationship with God. God will use whatever or whoever He wants to get you back in line. Why don't we love God the way He love us? Are we incapable of expressing love to that degree? Is it our decision not to love Him? Do we love Him for selfish reasons? God won't bless you if you aren't serving Him the way you are supposed to be. One of the key things God wants us to do is repent. The world we live in doesn't encourage us to make God first in our lives. God is willing to take care of you. Are you willing to let Him take care of you?
(2nd Peter 3:10) The day of the Lord is destruction. You need to be ready because you don't know what tomorrow will bring. What faults do you need to confess before God? You don't need to go public yet. Just confess and when you can...........tell somebody. (James 4:16) When you tell someone else it makes you stronger and removes the power of the secret.

Bible Study 12/3/08

We were going in the Bible to verses:

Psalms 66:18
2nd Peter 3:10-18

My Notes:
(Psalms 66:18) When you go to be with God you won't feel God's presence with sin in your heart. Sometimes you don't let it go because you don't want to. Maybe you don't have the strength to let it go on your own. Ask God to show you what is in your life that displeases Him. If you ask, He will forgive you. But you still may suffer the consequences for whatever your sin is.
(2nd Peter 3:10-18)What does the day of the Lord mean? The day of the Lord means that the earth is going to be destroyed. When this happens you should be holy and righteous before God.  At this time only the things that are going to heaven with us should matter. When you want to hear God's voice get in the Word. After a while, you  be able to put the Bible down and just tell the story. It's not the pastor's job to make sure you get in the scriptures. If you walk in obedience with God, He will walk in a matter that is right by you. What do you think God wants you to know? Ask Him.
Before Christ, God didn't dwell within people. He would visit, but He didn't dwell within us. Prior to Christ's coming the Jews thought that salvation was only for them. When it was really for the world.  Jesus's passion was the will of His father. What's your passion? When trouble comes do you still follow His will for your life?
